The Trio Concertante was composed in 1968, and is among the composer’s earliest works.
It is constructed in one movement, subdivided into five sections in what in German is known as a Bogen (bow) form – a mirror reflection sequence both for the thematic material and for the tempi indications: Allegro ma non troppo, Andante comodo, Maestoso, Andante comodo, Allegro ma non troppo.
